Iowa
Iowa's native flora is dominated by tallgrass prairie species, woodland wildflowers, savanna plants, wetlands, and native trees that support pollinators, birds, and other wildlife.
Before European settlement, much of Iowa was covered by tallgrass prairie, with woodlands along rivers and streams. Today, native plant gardens, prairie restorations, and conservation plantings help preserve this important ecological heritage while supporting wildlife and improving landscape resilience.
For Iowa gardeners, combining native wildflowers, grasses, shrubs, and trees creates beautiful landscapes that require less maintenance and provide habitat throughout the year.
